About Dr. Melinda Hansen

Dr. Melinda Hansen, M.D. specializes in an integrative medical approach to ensure that mental, physical, and spiritual health are addressed collaboratively with all treating providers involved. Dr. Hansen began her medical career in the Army National Guard as a Medic and Emergency Technician Basic volunteering for university sporting events. After completion of her 4-year undergraduate training at The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, she attended St. George’s University School of Medicine where she completed clerkship training at Cornell University affiliated Lincoln Hospital in NYC. She graduated with her Doctor of Medicine (M.D) degree Magna Cum Laude in 2012 and went on to complete her 4-year Psychiatry Residency at the University of Florida. After graduation, Dr. Hansen was certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. With a fascination in integrated medicine, she began her career as a traveling doctor serving as the Behavioral Health Director for several Alaskan Native Villages. She was introduced to medical acupuncture while in Alaska and went on to complete her training as an Integrated Structural Medical Acupuncturist at Cambridge, Massachusetts with Japanese Master Kiiko Matsumoto and Harvard Chief of the Department of Spine, Physiatry and Pain Management Dr. Joseph F. Audette, M.A., M.D.

Presently, Dr. Hansen works as a private psychiatrist via video/phone consultation as well as a concierge physician providing medical acupuncture and weight loss management for patients in the privacy of their home in Orange County, Los Angeles County, and Santa Barbara County on a case-by-case basis. Most recently she has become a Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

Dr. Hansen is committed to an integrative approach to mental and physical well-being which goes beyond the prescribing medications but rather focuses on a “less is more” medication approach, psychotherapy and a full medical work up to ensure there are no medical reasons for psychiatric symptoms to include vitamin deficiencies.

Dr. Hansen has a flexible schedule and is able to accommodate night and weekend visits online or via the phone as well as in person concierge visits depending on client needs.
